Tour Overview
6-Day Istanbul, Bursa and Ephesus Tour with Domestic Flights
This 6-day Istanbul, Bursa and Ephesus tour starts in Istanbul with an airport meet-and-greet and a private transfer to your hotel. You spend five nights on two bases: three in Sultanahmet, then two in Kuşadası on the Aegean coast after a domestic flight to İzmir.
Day 2 covers Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, Topkapı Palace and the Grand Bazaar. Day 3 crosses the Marmara Sea by ferry to Bursa and rides the Uludağ cable car. On Day 5 you see the House of the Virgin Mary, the Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre and the Temple of Artemis. The flights are included, so the Aegean leg is a short hop to İzmir, not a long road transfer.
It suits first-time visitors, couples and families. The tours on Days 2, 3 and 5 are shared with an English-speaking guide; a private tour is priced on request. The price includes 4★ hotels (or similar) with breakfast, domestic flights, airport transfers, lunch on tour days and the Ephesus entrances; Istanbul museum fees are paid on-site. Read our Ephesus from Istanbul guide, browse the Ephesus and Pamukkale tour packages, or see the 7-day Ephesus & Pamukkale tour with Istanbul.

Day 1Arrival in Istanbul & Free Time in the Old Town
At Istanbul Airport an English-speaking assistant greets you and arranges your private transfer to a 4★ boutique hotel in Sultanahmet (or similar); the ride takes about 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the airport and the traffic. The rest of the day is yours. If you arrive early, ask the reception for a map and walk to the nearby Hippodrome and the courtyards around Hagia Sophia, or simply rest before the sightseeing starts. Dinner is not included, but many restaurants and cafes are close by. Day 2 begins right after breakfast.

At Ephesus Ancient City you see the Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre and the Temple of Hadrian along the marble street. The Temple of Artemis, whose single standing column recalls one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, completes the day. Entrance fees to Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary and lunch are included; the Terrace Houses ticket is not.

Places Along the Route
.jpg)
Hagia Sophia
Hagia Sophia was raised in the 6th century as the great church of Byzantium and later became an Ottoman mosque. Its immense dome and surviving gold mosaics make a fitting start for understanding Istanbul's layered history.
.jpg)
Blue Mosque
Built between 1609 and 1616 for Sultan Ahmed I, the mosque faces Hagia Sophia across the old city's main square. Cascading domes, six minarets and an interior lined with blue-toned tiles define its silhouette.
.jpg)
Hippodrome
The Hippodrome was the chariot-racing arena of Byzantine Constantinople and the public heart of the city. The open square still holds the Egyptian Obelisk and other monuments that once lined the ancient track.
.jpg)
Topkapı Palace
For around four centuries this was the residence and seat of government of the Ottoman sultans. Walled courtyards, the treasury and terraces facing the Bosphorus explain how the court worked from day to day.
.jpg)
Grand Bazaar
One of the oldest covered markets still in business, its domed lanes are grouped by trade: jewellery, leather, ceramics, carpets. A short walk here shows how Istanbul has lived from commerce for centuries.
.jpg)
Mount Uludağ
Uludağ rises above Bursa with pine forests and, in winter, ski slopes. The cable car lifts you from the city onto the mountain, with wide views across Bursa and the plain below.
.jpg)
House of the Virgin Mary
A small stone chapel in the pine woods above Ephesus, where Mary is believed to have spent her last years. Christians and Muslims alike visit for its quiet, prayerful atmosphere.

Ephesus Ancient City
Ephesus was a leading port city of Roman Asia Minor and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015. Marble streets, fountains, baths and houses show what city life looked like two thousand years ago.

Library of Celsus
Completed in the 2nd century AD as a monument and tomb for the governor Celsus, the library once held thousands of scrolls. Its restored two-storey facade with statues of virtues is the view most visitors remember.

Temple of Hadrian
A small, richly carved temple on Curetes Street, dedicated to Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD. Its arched front, with a relief of the goddess Tyche, is a favourite photo stop.
Great Theatre
Carved into the hillside, the Great Theatre seated roughly 25,000 people for plays, assemblies and gladiator shows. From the upper tiers you look down the long street that once ran to the harbour.
Temple of Artemis
Once counted among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, this vast sanctuary is now marked by one reconstructed column rising from marshy ground near Selçuk. It recalls how central Artemis was to Ephesus.
Why Choose This Istanbul, Bursa & Ephesus Tour?
Ephesus is a short flight away here, not a long drive: three nights in Sultanahmet, a Bursa day with the Uludağ cable car, then two nights in Kuşadası, with the İzmir flights already included.

- Bursa between the two cities — Day 3 crosses the Sea of Marmara by ferry to Bursa, the first Ottoman capital, and rides the Uludağ cable car; both tickets and lunch are included.
- Ephesus with the Virgin Mary's House — Day 5 begins at the House of the Virgin Mary, then walks through Ephesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to the Temple of Artemis column; the Terrace Houses ticket is not included.
- Shared tours with lunch — The tours on Days 2, 3 and 5 are shared, led by a licensed English-speaking guide with lunch on tour days, and the Ephesus group is limited to 20 guests.
- Two nights by the Aegean — Kuşadası's 4★ hotel (or similar) gives you a free arrival afternoon for the seafront promenade and harbour before the Ephesus day.

Best Time to Visit Istanbul and Ephesus
Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are the most comfortable seasons for this tour: mild temperatures suit a full day of walking through the Old City and the open-air ruins of Ephesus, which has little shade. Summer is hot at Ephesus, so an early start, a hat and water help. Winter is cooler and quieter, and Mount Uludağ is a ski area, so the cable car ride can come with snowy views. The Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays and Topkapı Palace on Tuesdays.

Good to Know
Hagia Sophia and Closing Days
Hagia Sophia is a working mosque, so visits are limited at prayer times and around Friday midday. Topkapı Palace is closed on Tuesdays and the Grand Bazaar on Sundays; we check your dates when we confirm your booking.
Summer Heat at Ephesus
Ephesus has almost no shade. In summer bring a hat, sunscreen and water, and wear flat, non-slip shoes for the marble street.
Baggage on Domestic Flights
Domestic flights allow about 15 kg of checked baggage plus 8 kg of cabin baggage per person; the exact allowance depends on the airline and can change. We recommend packing a small overnight bag for flight days.
Pick-up Times
Your exact pick-up time is confirmed with you the day before each tour.
Hotel Check-in & Check-out
Standard hotel check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is until 12:00. Early check-in or late check-out depends on availability; ask us and we will request it.
Dietary Requirements
Halal and vegetarian options are available. Please tell us about any dietary needs when you book.
What to Wear
Please dress modestly when visiting mosques and religious sites: shoulders and knees covered, and a scarf for women. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended on every tour.
