Tour Overview
7-Day Istanbul, Cappadocia and Antalya Tour: Göreme Valleys, Kaleiçi & Düden Waterfalls
This 7-day Istanbul, Cappadocia and Antalya tour starts at Istanbul Airport with a meet and greet and spreads six nights over three regions: two in Istanbul, two in Cappadocia and two in Antalya. Three domestic flights (Istanbul–Kayseri, Kayseri–Antalya, Antalya–Istanbul) join the regions, so you cross the country by air, not by long bus rides.
Istanbul brings Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace and the Grand Bazaar. The full-day Göreme tour in Cappadocia visits the Open-Air Museum, Paşabağ, Devrent Valley, an Avanos pottery workshop and the Uçhisar viewpoint, and an optional hot air balloon flight at sunrise can be added. Antalya adds Kaleiçi with Hadrian’s Gate and the old harbour, plus the Karpuzkaldıran and Upper Düden waterfalls. Perge, Aspendos and Side are not in the base program; an optional day tour with one extra night adds them (see Antalya tour packages).
It suits first-time visitors, couples, families and photographers who want city, fairy chimneys and sea in one week. Choose Shared, small groups with lunch, or Private with your own vehicle and guide. The price includes 4★ hotels (or similar) with breakfast, all three flights, airport transfers and an English-speaking guide; an optional cave hotel in Cappadocia is an upgrade. Read our Istanbul, Cappadocia & Antalya itinerary or compare the 5-day Istanbul & Cappadocia tour.

-
Day 1Arrival in Istanbul & Sultanahmet Evening
Your English-speaking assistant meets you at Istanbul Airport and takes you to your 4★ hotel in the Old City area; allow about an hour, depending on traffic. After check-in the rest of the day is yours. A relaxed first walk leads to Sultanahmet, where the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Hippodrome stand within a few minutes of each other and are lit up after dark. Have a Turkish tea or a simple dinner in a nearby restaurant (dinner is not included) and rest well, because Day 2 is a full day of sightseeing in the Old City.

After lunch you visit Topkapı Palace, the residence of the Ottoman sultans, and finish in the Grand Bazaar, a covered market with thousands of shops. The Shared option travels as a small group with lunch; the Private option has its own vehicle and guide, and lunch is paid by you.

A private transfer of roughly an hour crosses the volcanic plateau to your 4★ hotel in the Göreme or Ürgüp area. The afternoon is free for Göreme village, where houses and churches are cut into the soft rock, and for its cafés and viewpoints over the rock formations. An optional sunset viewpoint tour is available if you want to see the valleys in the evening light. Rest well, because Day 4 is a full touring day.

Next come Paşabağ, also called Monks’ Valley, with its multi-headed fairy chimneys, and Devrent Valley, also called Imagination Valley, where rock cones resemble animals and figures. In Avanos you see a pottery workshop at work, and the day ends at the Uçhisar Castle viewpoint, a rock fortress above the valleys. You are then driven to your 4★ hotel in the Kaleiçi or city-centre area. The afternoon is free for Kaleiçi, Antalya’s old town, a web of Ottoman houses, small hotels and cafés around the old Roman harbour. Walk down to the harbour, where boats leave for trips along the cliffs, and watch the sun set over the bay with the Taurus Mountains behind. Dinner is not included, but the old town has many restaurants.

In Kaleiçi you see Hadrian’s Gate, a triumphal arch built for the emperor’s visit in AD 130, the Clock Tower, the Yivli Minaret, a fluted Seljuk minaret that became the symbol of the city, and the Roman Hıdırlık Tower. The Shared option is a small group with lunch; the Private option has your own vehicle and guide, with lunch paid by you.

If your flight leaves later in the day, the morning is free for a last coffee by the old harbour or a walk through Kaleiçi. Our services end on arrival in Istanbul.

Places Along the Route
.jpg)
Hagia Sophia
Built as a Byzantine cathedral in the 6th century under Emperor Justinian, later a mosque. Its vast central dome, gold mosaics and marble galleries make it one of the great buildings of the Old City.
.jpg)
Blue Mosque
The Sultanahmet Mosque, finished in 1616, takes its popular name from the blue İznik tiles inside. Six minarets and a cascade of domes face Hagia Sophia across the park of the old Hippodrome.
.jpg)
Topkapı Palace
For almost four centuries the main residence of the Ottoman sultans, set on a headland above the Bosphorus. Courtyards, kiosks and the Imperial Council Hall show how the court lived and governed.
.jpg)
Grand Bazaar
A covered market begun in the 15th century, now a maze of vaulted lanes and thousands of small shops selling ceramics, textiles, lamps and jewellery. It is closed on Sundays.
Paşabağ
Also called Monks’ Valley, Paşabağ is known for fairy chimneys with several mushroom-like caps on one stem. Early Christian hermits carved small cells into the tall pillars, and a short path leads among them.
Avanos
A small town beside the Kızılırmak, famous for pottery made from the red clay of the river banks. Workshops show shaping on the wheel, a craft passed down through families for generations.

Kaleiçi Old Harbour
The small Roman-era harbour below the walls of Kaleiçi, today lined with restored Ottoman houses, cafés and wooden excursion boats. Its terraces look across the bay to the Taurus Mountains at sunset.

Hadrian’s Gate
A three-arched marble gateway built in AD 130 for the visit of Emperor Hadrian. Two towers flank it, and the paving beneath still shows grooves worn by centuries of carts.

Düden Waterfalls
The Düden River drops over rock ledges in shaded parks near the city, and the lower fall plunges from the cliffs straight into the Mediterranean. Paths and viewing points lead to the water.

Hıdırlık Tower
A round stone tower from the Roman period on the cliff edge above the sea, once a watchtower or tomb. Gardens around it give a wide view over the coast and the old town.
Göreme Open-Air Museum
A valley of rock-cut monasteries, chapels and refectories from the Byzantine centuries. Painted churches such as the Dark Church preserve vivid frescoes, and the whole complex is part of Göreme National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Uçhisar Castle
A natural rock fortress riddled with chambers and windows, rising from the highest point in the area. From its foot, wide views open over Göreme, the valleys and the distant volcano of Mount Erciyes.
