With the legends of Troy behind you, you settle back into the vehicle for the long drive to Istanbul, about five hours. Troy Archaeological Site
Excavations on the Hisarlık hill uncovered nine main settlement layers, from the early Bronze Age to Roman times. Troy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the setting associated with Homer’s Iliad.
Trojan Horse Replica
A large wooden horse near the entrance recalls the legend of the Greeks hiding inside it to enter the city. It is the site’s favourite photo stop and a good way to start the walk.
Troy Museum
Opened in 2018 beside the excavation site, the museum shows pottery, jewellery, sarcophagi and other finds from Troy and its surroundings. Its architecture and displays have won international recognition.
1915 Çanakkale Bridge
Opened in 2022, this suspension bridge carries the road from Europe to Asia across the Dardanelles. Its main span of 2,023 metres marks the centenary of the Republic in 2023.
